I seem to stay with the same group of friends that I've known for years.
I really want to expand my circle. There just doesn't seem to be enough time in the day to do that. This year, I really want to make an effort to do this.

I found that I had a problem with meeting people outside of my circle as well. I blamed it on a lack of social outlets. However, once I became more aware of my social surroundings, I found that opportunities to develop new, sincere friendships had been there all along. I had become so used to having the same group of people around me that I never ventured out of that safe-haven. I became more proactive about this and I gave my email or phone number to people I got along with at work, or people I met while out with friends. I generally adopted a more welcoming attitude and now I have a very diverse group of friends. I think you just need to take advantage of every opportunity to meet new people, even if you wouldn't normally go out of your way.

Even though I am an outgoing person, when I have to go to a networking event I feel shy. I take a deep breath and then scout the room, but that doesn't help with my feelings of shyness. I still feel shy and force myself to go to events and put my best foot forward. I wonder whether I will ever get over this?

you can get over your feeling of shyness but you must want to and work at it. i used to feel shy, but have overcome that feeling. i now enjoy going out and meeting new people. i had to work at it but it was well worth it.

I am very verbal so I sem to talk to anyone! I dont cross the line though when it comes to trusting someone! I have met lots and lots of nice people and I have met many that are just plain IDIOTS! To meet new people, I would go to new places and see new faces. Weird but true LoL I was bored!
